About

I am an artist + illustrator + cartoonist who lives in the Seattle area. I am inspired by children's books and cartoons from my childhood in the '80s.

I graduated from The Evergreen State College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree focusing on illustration. In 2007 I received an Artist Trust GAP award for my artwork. And in 2012 I was granted a Xeric award for my self-published comic book series Castle & Wood, about a mouse and his pet cat who go on crazy adventures together.

I design rock posters and sometimes draw comics for The Stranger (I have been spotlighted in its Poster of the Week column a handful of times). I am also a publishing member of the Seattle comics newspaper Intruder. Contact me at darinshuler@gmail.com.

Comics

My latest comic series is called Castle and Wood. It was funded by a Xeric grant and ran from 2011 to 2014. The final comic, "Wipeout," released on November 15 at Short Run Comix & Arts Festival.
